100% TRACEABLE COW LEATHER

BEST-IN-CLASS LEATHERS

Our leathers are entirely sourced from food byproducts and 100 percent traceable. They are produced in a scope-C gold-standard tannery certified by the Leather Working Group, of which there are only 13 worldwide. This means that, from rawhide to finished leather, every step of the process is held to the highest standards of environmental impact and ethical production.

CUSTOMIZED FOR EVERYDAY ADVENTURE

After months of research, we customized a buttery soft leather with a fine grain and thick double facing for long-term durability. Built for the wear and tear of active living, it maintains a smooth, glossy finish in the face of scratches and water exposure.

100% ORGANIC HEMP WITH WATERPROOF TREATMENT

LOW-IMPACT FIBER

Cultivated using minimal water and chemical intervention, and producing two to three times more fibers than cotton can yield with the same amount of land, hemp has always been on our radar as a low-impact fiber full of design potential. As one of the strongest natural fibers (it’s four times as strong as cotton!), hemp is ideal for making durable accessories that last a lifetime.

NATURALLY DYED & WATERPROOF

Naturally dyed with waterproof treatment, our organic hemp is grown and finished in a single factory. With over twenty years of experience in hemp production, our manufacturer was one of the first producers to succeed in organic cultivation and become certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard.

CONSTRUCTION

THE PROBLEM

Most handbags have plastic fillers hidden in their linings to maintain shape and structure. Over time, those plastics deteriorate, leaving consumers with two options: to keep using a withering product, or throw out and buy new.

OUR SOLUTION

We work closely with master artisans to eliminate unnecessary plastics from every step of the design process. After a year of prototyping our inaugural product, we engineered a unique pattern without the plastic fillers that are typically inserted into handbag linings. The structure and shape are purely supported by efficient engineering using supple cow leather and buttery soft suede leather as interior facings. Age requires 1.2 m2 of leather, which is substantial for its category, yet it only weighs 400 g — thanks to the lack of plastic fillers.

We stripped it down to only the most essential hardware: two magnetic snaps closure to keep your belongings secure and four metal feet for support and protection.

DOUBLE STRAPS FOR VERSATILITY

Our bag comes with two detachable straps — a top handle and a shoulder strap — so you never have to settle on one look. Switch out the straps with an easy collar pin.

ROUNDS OF PROTOS, MONTHS TO DEVELOP

Every advene bags took at least five rounds of prototyping and over six months of development to innovate a new playbook for handbag design. After hundreds of hours of work, we engineered entirely novel silhouettes — free of unnecessary plastics — to stand the test of time, wear, and weather.

AGE | 2 HOURS, 7 CRAFTSPEOPLE, 1.2M2 LEATHER

Because Age’s structure is purely supported by raw materials, all elements need to be perfect in order for it to stand on its own. Collaboration between creatives and craftspeople is what makes this unprecedented structure possible: It takes two hours, six craftspeople, and 1.2M2 leather to make every single Age bag.

EDGE | 1.5 HOURS, 7 CRAFTSPEOPLE, 0.8M2 LEATHER

Following Age’s development process and mission, we developed Edge to have a construction with sharp lines softening by tulip-shaped gussets that expand into a soft wide shoulder strap. Also totally free of plastics, the sculpture and the shape are reinforced by eco-friendly compressed leather plup. Every Edge takes one and a half hours and seven craftspeople to make, and requires 0.8M2 of leather.

0 CARBON EMISSIONS IN THE MAKING

From the beginning of 2021, all advene bags will be produced in a carbon-neutral facility powered by solar energy. Our deliveries are also now 100% carbon-neutral, and we are committed to finding additional ways to reduce the footprint of our product life cycles.

PACKAGING

UPCYCLED DUST CLOTH

For our dust cloth, we sourced deadstock fabric from our hemp textiles supplier, which can be repurposed as a bandana or table linen.

LOW-IMPACT PACKAGING

We incentivize customers to opt for minimal packaging with a discount, but if they insist on more extensive packaging, we created an FSC-certified greyboard box that is elegant and versatile enough to be repurposed.
